The LA times caught a quick preview of 4 games being released for the Project Natal Device on Xbox 360. All the games read the players motions and use them to interact with the games. There is little doubt that these will be shown at E3 2010. Read the rest of this entry »

June 13th, 2010The Future of Computers – A Cloud Computing World
June 13th, 2010It is incredible when you look back over the years and see just how far computers and the industries have really come. I mean it was only 10 years ago when communicating over the internet was mainly forums and email.
The main way of grabbing information from the web was through portals instead of pure searching (lycos, altavista). Of course we are also going back to the days of the launch of Windows XP. Jump back to today and we are using the internet as a main communications platform. A lot of us are constantly checking our Facebook profiles to see who has sent us a message and what everyone we know is doing. We are using twitter to grab snippets of the latest news and post small talk to the masses. Google has probably been the biggest evolution with pulling us away from the portals and making searching an easy approach to finding anything on the Internet. Most importantly we are moving all these new technologies into a mobile world. We are no longer cooped up behind desks with our eyes glued to screens. Our mobile phones are telling us how many tweets we have, how much unread junk mail we have. Whether John has finished his bike ride and that his birthday is a week away. You see on Facebook that John’s favourite artist is Rob Zombie and then you buy him the latest album from Amazon for his birthday. All this possible from one device, where ever you are all because of the evolutions of computers. We are in a true mobile internet world with all our friends, colleagues, businesses and services all available at our finger tips.
You are probably thinking, where this technological world is going to head next. Well this is what I am posting about as it is definitely coming and to a certain degree it is already here setting its roots in. It is called cloud computing. Read the rest of this entry »
Peter Molyneux: As the console technology evolves, we will see new genres appear.
June 13th, 2010
Peter Molyneux at Lionhead Studios talks about how several developers have tried to merge game genres together to create a new one, but ultimately these have failed. They failed due to the lack of technology, they fail to realise that all the genres have been made and maxed out. They only way we will ever see new genres is if the console technology really changes. With the introduction of Project Natal and Playstation Move, this is starting to happen. He continues to say:

E3 2010 only a few days away
June 12th, 2010The biggest gaming event of the year is getting closer and closer and now is where it’s time to get excited. Not only is it the biggest gaming event of the year but this year is going to be one of the biggest of the past few years.
There are so many games being released, new consoles being announced (yes there are new consoles being announced… well handheld ones anyway) that it almost makes me wish I had time (and the sources) to head off to LA and see the event live. In case any of you are wondering what’s on at E3 this year I have made this post to showcase some of the things to come. Granted some of these are an almost definite and some are a maybe but I think we will hear at least mentions of these topics. Read the rest of this entry »
